The Point of Beginning is an undertaking of The Fort Sherman Group Inc., which conceived and created it, guides it, manages it, and publishes it.

Fort Sherman is publisher of the Condell Private Letter, a management level newsletter of news, commentary, and opinion focused on the land title business, launched in 1992 and currently being published every 25 days. Its subscribers are charter subscribers to The Point of Beginning.

Principals of Fort Sherman Group have been associated with the land title business for many years. Fort Sherman's sister company, Condell & Company, Inc. was launched in 1983 in Chicago as a management consulting firm concentrating exclusively on the title industry. Over the course of its years in management consulting it has worked in depth with more than a hundred client title companies, both agency companies and regional underwriters, literally across the nation, from Massachusetts to California, from Florida to the state of Washington. As a matter of policy it chooses not to accept consulting assignments from the major title insurers.

Condell also provided comprehensive programs of educational seminars on marketing, customer service, title management, and title technology. It began a magazine, Settlement Services Today, in 1994 and published it until 2006. It began a series of title industry trade shows beginning in 1996 which became known as TitleTech and later were expanded and renamed the National Settlement Services Conference. It also put on a series of in-depth conferences on marketing called The National Title Marketing Conference. It has also held CEO Conferences for both agency and regional underwriter chief executives.
